Yop Update - Week 16 - October 16 - 23
Whew, after spinning all the previous week it was nice to get back to my knitting.
I pulled my wayside sweater out of hibernation and it took me a while to remember where I was and how to work the lace and cable pattern. Once I was on track I spent the week knitting and got this far:
Five full repeats of the twelve row pattern on 171 stitches.
I did get all my skeins from Spinzilla washed and dried, and I will start adding them to my sampler shawl and sock yarn blanket this coming week.
I will visit my sister very soon, because look what she found for me at the Free Store on her little island...
For sure this is enough to finish my blanket to 800 squares. I got two more squares done this week so my total is 772!
And.... I turn 61 tomorrow.
61!
How the hell did that happen?
Honestly, I still feel nineteen inside.
I am spending this weekend in a little town of 29 people with a dear friend of ours. It is quiet, and peaceful here and we have already met at least a quarter of the town's residents.
So that is my week.
Yours?

Very pretty sweater. I would love to find a town with 29 people. How lovely it must be. Nice f7nd from your sister. That blanket will be done in no time.
ReplyDeleteIt was a peaceful, beautiful, simple place.
DeleteHappy birthday!!!!!! (A day early ) Hope you have a fabulous and fun day!!!! Great find by your sister.
ReplyDeleteyes, my sister is good at scouting out the free store for me.
DeleteI do wonder why my body (and face :( ) can grow older, but I still feel like a young woman inside - in many ways. Happy Birthday!!! I'm curious where you are that has such a small population.
ReplyDeletea town about 4 hours away from me - used to be a bustling mining town many many years ago.
DeleteI am loving the jumper so far Mary-Anne, the pattern is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful birthday full of fun and laughs!
xx
I had a good birthday - my daughter and son-in-law made dinner and a birthday cake!!
DeleteHappy Birthday youngin'...lol! I will be 68 in January and I feel like I'm 16 so maybe it is proportional to your age and by the time you're my age you will feel even younger!
ReplyDeleteYour sweater is beautiful and looks very complicated. Great job on the spinning and look at all that free yarn! Enjoy your peaceful visit in the town of 29!
the sweater isn't that complicated, I just have to pay attention! I have felt 19 forever, so I don't think I will get any younger that way. Good to know I am not alone in my inside feeling younger than my outside.
DeleteYour weekend sounds like bliss! Happy birthday, hope you spend it rested and thoroughly spoiled. Love the sweater, it is coming along nicely.
ReplyDeletethank you. It was a very restful day.
DeleteHappy Birthday! Hope you're having a great day :)
ReplyDeletechocolate cake - makes the day all the better.
Deletehappy belated birthday!
ReplyDeleteThank you dear one.
DeleteHappy belated birthday! Also I hear you about the still feeling 19. I love that I feel younger than my kid ;-O
ReplyDeleteThat's funny. I never thought of that before - I feel younger than my kids!
DeleteHappy 61st birthday Mary-Anne! I hope you had a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteWhat did I do during that week? Getting into the garden - after recent floods, I expect grocery prices to rise shortly so I've been preparing the vegetable patch by planting summer vegetables.
That's a pretty pattern on your Wayside Sweater and pretty colours in those skeins. What's 'the Free Store'? Is it the name of a shop or a type of shop?
Rest assured you are not the only one who feels younger than their age. What I would like to know is what you would do if someone told you to "Act your age"? Would you act like 61 or 19? ;-)
As long as we can keep having fun!
the free store is just that - a free store where people take things they don't want and people can have them for free. Recycling at its finest. It exists on the little island my sister lives on. Clothes, books, toys, wool, everything you can imagine. Every place should have one. I think I would act 61, I actually like being 61, it is just that it doesn't feel any different on the inside as when I was 19. Glad you are recovering from the floods - I love growing vegetables. My son has a huge garden that he is very very proud of.
