A diary of the second half of life. A life that includes swimming, knitting, love, hope, faith, grace, humour and depression. Not necessarily in that order.

Year of Projects - August 7-13, 2016
It has been a crazy week.
First, because I had a headache for all of it. (Thankfully it is finally easing off)
Second, because we were in the process of booking our European holiday and were having trouble making decisions.
However, knitting (and crocheting) prevailed so here is my update.
I finished spinning 25 grams of burgandy Corriedale and then plied it as well as plying some sparkly art fibre I had made eighteen months ago in my spinning class.
I used the sparkley peach yarn and knit six more rows on my sampler shawl.
I ended up with 168 yards of the Corriedale so I think I will knit another pair of socks with it sometime in the fall.
Look how thin I got it -
I knit 22 squares on my sock yarn blanket. Here I am knitting in the park on Saturday as part of an event sponsored by the West Coast Knitters' Guild.
This is all I am knitting during the Olympics, and I have challenged myself to knit 30 squares in August. I am leaving on holidays on August 11 so I have four days to knit those 8 squares - I am pretty sure I will surpass that watching all the Olympic events. As you can see it fits the bed now - just needs a bit more spill over before I start the i-cord edging.
I bought a kit of Star Wars crochet figures that I am going to add to my list. My list used to just include Yoda, but now I am going to make a few more.
And lastly, thanks to the inspiration of other bloggers taking part in this Year of Projects challenge I have started a C2C crocheted blanket using up leftovers I have in my stash of dk yarn. C2C, as I have just learned, means Corner to Corner and it is quite simple to do with a lovely effect.
I will be traveling for the next four-five weeks and I will pack enough wool to make my husband two pairs of socks that are on my list. I will update if I am near internet.
Happy crafting to all you Yoppers out there, and all you non-yoppers, and for that matter all you non-crafters. Just Happy.
I hope to be blogging about my travels when and if I have internet.
Stay tuned.

ReplyDeleteI'm glad too. Today it is almost gone. yay!

DeleteI'm glad the headache is easing and well done on the spinning, your shawl is looking great and I can't wait to see socks knit up in that Corriedale, you got it so thin! Love the blankets and I hope you enjoy your travels.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I'll definitely share the socks once they are knit up.
DeleteLove the sparkles, and it's so lovely to see another c2c among the yoppers.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely big afghan that is turning out to be.
Hope you have a great time on your travels and come back refreshed and raring for more knitting.
I'll have some knitting with me but when I get back I will be ready to finish that giant blanket!
DeleteSo pleased that you have finally managed to see the back of that headache. I am so in awe of all the projects that you have got going.
ReplyDeleteHope you have wonderful holidays and I look forward to hearing about your adventures :-)
I'll do my best to blog about our travels. Stay tuned!
DeleteI'm glad to hear your headache is leaving you. I get migraines so I know what that is like. I am amazed by your sock yarn blanket. What a treasure that will be for your family. I like making the c2c blankets too except for the one I started with lion brand homespun yarn. That yarn is so neat looking and feels so soft but I really hate working with it.
ReplyDeleteI am using some bfl yarn for my C2C - it is very soft and I love the colourways I have from Ancient Arts - they are one of my favourite yarn companies. And Canadian too!
DeleteThe sampler shawl and your blanket are gorgeous! The Star Wars crochet is too cute, may the force be with you : ) Have a fabulous time on your trip. Hope you share a few picture of the sights you see and your projects.
ReplyDeleteI'll do my best to blog about my travels. May the force be with us all!
