Yopping Update - September 11

I'm back!

I flew in from London Sunday (and boy are my arms tired ;) ), and I did this on the flight. One sock - 8 1/2 hours while watching three in-flight movies (and eating the occasional snack).

So that was the extent of my knitting while I travelled from New York to Croatia to London and then home. Two pairs of socks from my to do list! Here is the 2nd completed pair.

I also visted LOOP knitting shop in Islington while in London and bought two skeins of yarn and a book of twelve patterns - 10 to celebrate 10th anniversary of Loop. This means I have technically failed at cold sheeping for the year, but hey, it was totally worth it! I plan to make a shawl out of these lovely BFL (Bluefaced Leichester) singles, by The Uncommon Thread yarn company, using one of the patterns in the book - either WREATH or AUTUMN LEAF. This yarn was from English sheep, spun and dyed in England. Perfect souvenir from my trip to London, no?

So that's it for me - once this jetlag is done (crappy headache for two days) I will be back to knitting.

I will also spend the week catching up on all the other yoppers. I have a lot of catching up to do!

  1. Sounds like you had a good trip. My daughter lives in Islington. I'll have to check out Loop next time I visit.

  2. Pfft.... Jet lag schmetlag... A 10 hour flight only gets us half way to anywhere from way down here.
It was lovely to travel with you, and yes, you chose the perfect souvenirs for you. I look forward to seeing what you create.
My 3-week Tokyo, Seoul & Busan adventure begins on Friday. Now that there's so much to do to prepare this ginormous house for rental, I really shouldn't be going. We booked it before we knew we were moving. So I have mixed feelings of anxiety and anxiety! But I know once I'm on that plane the adrenalin will help me switch modes.

I hope that naughty cat isn't punishing you for deserting him. Purring and smooching is totally acceptable as welcome home behaviour but not shouting and stiff-tailed stomping.

    1. You have till January before you move, right? Your trip will be fantastic. I already told my husband that once you move to London I am going to scour the airlines and keep my eyes out for a cheap flight so I can come visit you. K??? Also, the cat is acting like he has never seen us before - although he does accept food from me! He is so standoffish - I am hoping once the weather turns and the rain starts to fall that he will once again be purring beside me while I knit, and/or sleep.

    2. We leave late December. Indeed it looks as if our Christmas dinner may be supplied by Qantas! And a visit would be more than K. It would be magic.

I hope the furry enforcer soon tires of punishing you. My poor old girl has to spend the next 4 weeks at a boarding kennel for the first time in her 16 years. She has plenty of time to plan her revenge!

  3. I think 2 skeins of yarn and a pattern book packaged in that cool bag are THE perfect souvenirs of your trip. It sounds like your travels were memorable - thanks for bringing us along for peeks into your days. :)

  4. I am fairly certain that yarn purchased while travelling, especially yarn purchased in a different country, does not count as stash enhancement. I believe those are travel mementos.

    1. I agree, but I don't think the mods on my stash busting group are going to ;)

  5. I hope you are feeling good by now. I enjoy seeing what you knit. It sounds like you had a lovely trip. I love travelling but because of my health problems it is really difficult for me. Still, travelling usually makes for a lot of fun memories.
