Math helps

I am between sixes and sevens these days.

Not sure where that expression came from but it fits the theme of math, and numbers.

I am helping a grade 11 student with pre-calculus math.

I have been sitting at the kitchen table for hours a day doing radical problems.

It helps.

It is soothing.

Because there is, in fact, a right answer even if I don't get it right the first time.

I can figure it out, and get the right answer.

How come life isn't like that?

(This is a rhetorical question, but feel free to answer if you wish).

  1. I actually think I would have more luck figuring out life than maths!

    2. it's the same in french : les maths, plural. I think that's because there are several kind of maths. There's arithmetic and algebra and geometry and trigonometry...I'm bound to forget some.

  2. I know, I find it odd that others call it 'math'! I want to stick an 's' n the end of it!
