The Unexpected

The Unexpected

Sometimes my love for you
crashes in
like an unexpected guest
a surprise.

In moments of mundane
chores or times
of quiet solitude
there it is.

Perhaps a song
you courted me with
a moment of laughter
in an otherwise
blue, or gray,
day.

Sometime when you
are most vulnerable
I remember that
young, young man
who opened his heart to me
and still does.

Unexpected moments
that can find
and heal
my
expectant heart.

  3. Aw, that's so lovely. Gosh I can completely put Robert into that poem as I read it to myself. Very personal and engaging. It's an ideal Valentines. Thank you so much Mary-Anne. That makes me want to write another poem. I think I might take up the Sunday Whirl this Sunday. X

  5. Beautiful, open minded, real. Those little moments are there. Often forgotten because the day goes very quick and I often am to busy to recognize. Thank you for sharing.

  11. Thank you all for your appreciation and encouragement - maybe my idea of a book of poetry isn't just a pipe dream.
